Well, over the past week I have kicked some butt with getting the new floor pan in, and TADAH!! Its in! Now I just have to fabricate a new crossmember out of square tubing, make a sub-frame mount, and re-weld the seat racks and mounts, then im done with the floor on this side! Then off to do the rocker panel/sill and then the seam from the inner fender/ cab

Reflecting what has already been said - admirable amount of dedication to rescuing that truck. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming!

UPDATE my friends

Both my camera's batteries and my Chinese Angle Grinder are dead, so no major updates with pics at the moment.

I finnally got the floor pan almost all welded in. Only a few minor niggles, and the thing will be ready to drive again.

I had to fabricate a new crossmember (which the front of the seat mounts to) Made it out of a C channel of 3mm plate, so It will never rust through again.

I still have to weld the lower subframe 'hat' channels (which go from the A-arm mount to mid floor-pan)

I welded in one of the two seat rails, but I need to grind and prep the other to be able to weld it on

I also cut off that hideous rusted aftermarket rear bumper to reveal the truck's wonderful rump

I was able to source some handbrake cables state-side!! wOOt! Got them, some rear-wheel arches, and two brand-spanking new front fenders. Spent about $350 (230 quid) for all that junk.

I need to now find a good, hi quality small angle grinder, as it has been proven something I use ALL THE TIME! I cant really do much else until I get one.

I got ALL the seat mounts on the drivers side all welded in, the seat even slides!!! wow!

My front brake lines are TOAST, they were literally hanging by a thread. And I even DROVE with these things on. Oh well, parts house actually carry them for 10-15 bucks/side, cheap.

You spoiled rotten cali/ariz/nm/tx you guys dont know rust. Id rather have your' sun-burnt paint and dried rubber parts, that our salty cancer.

An Update for you chaps

I have the drivers side floor pan all in as of this afternoon, just have to underseal the crap out of it, and well can call it good!

Im getting the Caddy close to being relativley street-worthy (no such thing as MOT here mate) Mostly focused on getting the brake system all ship shape , since would want to able to stop my piece of junk while im working on it. I have to find or fabricate a parking brake tube for the drivers side, as the old one was COMPLETELY rotrted

It will be as ugly as heck, but will be able to be driven safely , without fear of not stopping.

Have to get some rocker panels rolled for it yet. Shops around here can only do 3 ft sections, so I will have them make four of those sections, and weld them together to make two 6 ft secs.

I convinced my mum to let me have the caddy in the garage for a week to do some a$$ kicking on the caddy, regardless of rain or whatnot. Beats working in the grass.

Progress on the brakes, had to order BOTH calipers and rear wheel cylinders, they sure look nice though! New lines for the front....

Red Splash shields and brake drums FTW!!!

Other side curing out on the patio, figured I should paint the backing plate gloss black for good measure...

the Driver's side floorpan is DONE!!!!!! DONE I SAY

Im happy with the progress, caddies rule

The rotten passenger's side floor pan (will be extra cab ventilation for now)
