May have to do something similar. Did you use the engine/box mounts straight onto altered body or include the subframe to any extent. Did you get the driveshaft flanges to face the hub carrier centres. How far is the sump from the ground ???

the way i did it was put the engine and six speed box to gether bolterd the engine mounts gear box mounts droped it in .got it where i whanted it mark the iner wings as the mk4 golf set up is 4.5 inch wider choperd iner wings out droped it back in. lined the drive safts up made sur the bonet shuts then dubbled the chassi legs up to take the mk4 mounts drilled the legs . built the iner wings back up made 2 spacers to go under the mount to get it as high as poss so the bonnet shut .the sumps the same hight as the exhaust. its not a big job if your ok with a welder get riped into it ? glad i went this way to me its the easyist way al that fu...... about finding things to fit that dont then it hits the pocket this way av upgraded to mk4 set up so if a get board off the old oil burner a could drop 20vt or r32 strigt in on mk4 set up if your ever in yorkshire rolo drop in. shes in the body shop now so shuld be done in round about a mounths time pop up take it for a spin
