Do yourself a favour and get a 02J setup instead. You’ll need the in car shifter cables/cable bracket on the box and the mechanism tht bolts into the box. It’s a direct swap and it is a million times better than the 02A setup.

There used to a link for a German company that made adaptors for 020 linkage to 02A box.

Your best bet, is from a late 5 speed mk4 golf, either diesel or petrol.

yeah, buying new would cost a fortune. either head to a breakers or ebay. i got all the bits i needed for about £80. yeah i'm pretty sure like Elroy said, mk4 golf 5 spd. just make sure the shifter mechanism looks like a golf putter.

you need the shifter that looks like this

and just make sure you get the in car mechanism, cables and cable mount

Just use a hole cutter to cut a hole in the bulkhead. Run them through and fill with a. Grommet

Yeah like 13 said, you need to remove the 02a tower from the box using the two bolts and the 02j one just drops in its place. Regarding the shaft that comes out and slots right in the box you have twist it so it lines up, also there’s a sort of loose metal cup thing, tht needs to be twisted so the little half moon shape tab sits in its locating point

take a picture of the underside of your gearbox, should be a little vw logo with 2 bolts either side
