Mine had about 2 inches of filler there... If I were you I'd cut it all back and do it properly

A lot of pattern sills are formed as an oversill. To be fair, as long as the original rust is totally removed and and cavity and exposed edges rust proofed, it's not too bad a way of doing it as the original metal is much thicker than the pattern crap.

I wouldnt panic to much. All Mk1 Caddys are rotten in that area!

As they rot from the inside out, you dont know until its to late. But if your lower seam is swelling due to rust then it will be the same as this when you start cutting into it.

Thats the reason why I started making all these sections in the first place, so that you can repair it all properly:

And depending if you can save the turret or not

and even a filler panel if it has spread that high

Thanks Al, i was looking into a few of those panels, im going to do some more investigating and cutting, from what i can see right now it's just the ends that are rusted which i can hopefully cut off and weld some new metal on, i think i might need 1 or 2 of the rear leaf spring mounts though as one has been welded and it's falling apart at the back.

Is it too late to get a partial refund on the caddy lowering kit i ordered? its been just over 2 months but i'm going a different route now, did send an email but i guess you are very busy.
