    O2J speedo drive missing

    Hi

I have a 02J gearbox that has a blanking plug not a speedo drive.

    So.

    1. Is the drive ring present on the diff?
    2. Where can I buy the long speedometer drive part?

Has anyone else come up against this problem?

    Thanks

    Nigel

I think you can fit either electronic or physical drive in to gearbox!

you could use many types of system. I have seen a speedo pickup (if I recall properly) taken from the splined bolts that bolt the driveshafts to the hubs.

    And the answer is...

Seat ibiza 6L with a 02j gearbox has the speedo drive ring attached to the diff but no drive components installed.

I bought a cable drive shaft and the bush that holds the drive shaft and speedo cable for 12.50 euros delivered.

Now i have a working speedo drive for my mk1, one more job off the list

Later models like the 6L Ibiza, MK5 Golf, MK3 Caddy etc etc use the abs ring for the speedo as its all part of the traction control system. Your lucky, some boxes dont have any provision for a speedo drive!
