    Magpies steel arched mk1! RWD

So! Project magpie / steel arch / what's a search bar / brown truck is back!!! After advertising my caddies to mates and friends of friends I had a few offers but wouldn't take £0.50p under what I asked for and when asked to arrange a viewing I was on the toilet on that day so couldn't let them see my hidden beast!! In a nutshell I obviously didn't want to sell was just disheartening to see it sat there gathering dust, saying that I didn't even see it! Having worked/lived in London I was home once / twice a month and the truck was situated 40mins away so wasn't ideal as was coming home after 90 hour weeks just to sleep!!

Anyway! Had a word with mates and the ideas got flowing!! Well, Today, I rolled the ball, got the truck and fetched it home!! I have more space now and people around me that actually want to see it running than I did in a massive unit so it's a win win!

Spent a few hours on her and the underside is completely stripped out! Looking for a JIG now so I can clean and chop the underside out to make way for the engine!! Decided on going 1.8T BAM mounted longitudinal mated to a rx8 gearbox to possibly a rx8 rear subframe.. figured I can always throw the BAM out in the future just for now that's plenty power and it's Vag so eillndo to get it running!! Need to figure out how I'm going to mount a transverse engine longitudinal!! the interior will be stereotypical drift setup just seats with a steering wheel and a few bits'n'bobs! The paint will more then likely stay as is or get swapped around but there's very few marks on as it's been covered up for years!!

Will remind myself how to upload pictures and keep this updated!

    Feels good to be back!

PS! This time I don't want chrome!

That with a turbo would be outrageously unique in a caddy. Think hoofing it in the bay could be a challenge though!

What rear subframes have people used or know suit the mk1? I was going rx8 running gear but from the digging I have done the difference is around 300mm.. be made to work easy enough but if there is another alternative I'm willing to have a look at..

Currently off to pick a roll over jig up!!

So today got her on the jig and got her flipped over! I'm surprised to say the least all arches are good baring one little hole I knew about, the sills are good, had a few patches before but everything is all good nothing that can't be sorted.. anyway! Important bit! There's not much more I can really do so I'm looking for a donor car!! The rear subframe and how to mount is is baffling me to say the least.. come up with the idea of putting heavy section in places where I can (basically from
    Leaf mount to mount)..

    A- strengthens everything up
B- gives me something solid to weld off to mount the subframe and what not
C- adds extra weight which is a good thing

Just stuck with what subframe to go (I think that determines my donor and engine!)
