Man i hate rust. I just want to be done with this stage. Still sort of fun to fab up parts, but not fun enough that i want to do this whole thing all over again on the corner on the other side.
So i decided to spend the dough on a factory fresh peice to slap on there instead. Something i should have done to this side aswell, but thats easy to say now haha
A 90ish euro part that is fairly quick to change sure beats spending 40+ hours repairing one small area haha.

It had just gotten marked as obsolete in etka just a few weeks ago, wich prevents you from ordering, but still showed up as available at the main Kassel warehouse, and also at Seats one in Spain.
Our parts guy whos always super helpful with this kind of stuff called the main Swedish warehouse, and they confirmed that there were still 21 of them available.
Apparently they sorted it out so i should have one on the way, but still no 100% confirmation on that

I got sick of rust repairs on mine that’s kinda why I lost interest in it for a long time.

Thanks for the offer, might be down for some of that later, we will see how things go, if i do get that new peice of metal from vw in the end the other side will be easy to fix.

I did more work but forgot to take photos, i welded the last peice by the pinch back on and grinded it all up, so now i have one solid peice ready to go back on the car.
After that i need to make the last outer skin peice, then its done

Helping my dad with a Volvo P1800 in his garage this weekend. this is where the caddy will end up soon. It will have to share space with a billion 60-70's Pontiacs, and for the moment this Volvo, and a Porsche 356 aswell
A spraybooth is in the process of beeing built so its a bit messy and cramped :P

They are cool cars, and this one is very fresh for its age too, but it has old crash damage that was repaired by a mong in the 70's or something, that i had to sort out haha. I think this one will be super nice when done, full nut and bolt restoration. The money i get for this job will go straight into the caddy.

Some day next week i will probably do some bodywork on the Porsche 356 my dad is working on aswell
