    TYP 19C .. Early mk2 GTI

Up until i got my caddy this is my mk2 that i was using day in day out, but the more i was using it for mountain biking the more it was getting ruined, so she is now in storage awaiting some love, but anyway here's the story so far ..

Bought it back in 2011, Came as pictured below except for my BBS' that i added as it came with no wheels ..

It came on coilovers but nothing that went low enough so they were swapped out for ones i had in my shed, and also fitted my 7 slat quad grill ..

pretty much ran it like that for a long while, But then i got fed up of the bumpy ride so started to tackle that, first off was a turret raise followed by adjustable camber top mounts, balljoint extenders and a track rod flip kit

Next up was a wheel refurb, i got bored of keeping the dishes gleaming, so they were the first thing to go !

Next up was something different with the exhaust, at the time everyone was going for the single upswept tailpipe, so trying to meet in the middle of oem and different i came up with this ..

It then stayed like that for a long while until i got bored of the wheels and had a deal i couldnt refuse so that meant i ran these diamond cut D90s until it went into storage for the first time (It was replaced by a caddy)

Whilst off the road it had pretty much new everything up front, bushes, joints, linkages .. everything, even wheels

So a couple tyre changes, height adjustments and spacers later i was left with this ..

And that brings us upto september, when it got replaced with yet another caddy, so that meant this ..

and thats where its bee ever since, once the weathers a bit better i may get around to starting work on it.

Plans are to start with the engine bay, giving the engine an overhaul and sorting out the rusty bits and pretty much making it look factory again, then i can start on the outside!

Inside is pretty much 1984 factory spec, so just need to refurb the seats and its sorted! fingers crossed i can get the effort together now

I'm a nineties child, big bumpers were teh awsum - I'd have loved something with big bumpers instead of spazzy thin ones - I would have loved a mk2 astra to replace my mk1, I replaced the dated round lights with modern rectangular ones.

Funny how fashions and ideas change - the nineteen year old in me still has a secret love of big bumpers and dimma kits.

Do you have a 19 yr old in you Rich T?
