    Smile The Undercover caddy

Thought it was time I started a build thread on my caddy van!

I had been on the hunt for a really tidy Caddy tdi for a while when we spotted this

1 owner! The criminal investigation bureau! It has been used as an "undercover" vehicle most all its life, massive history and not full of holes for lights etc like most police vehicles.

So...first job was the interior. even though the out side didn't have loads of extra holes the dash did.
out came the dash. Seats, and carpet, to be replaced by the bits I had been collecting.

So the mods so far are,
Ibiza black dash, door cards and trim.
Mk3 ibiza cupra steering wheel / airbag
    16v golf recaros.
    Black cupra carpet
    Mk3 golf handbrake
    Kombi rear headliner
    Polo scuttle
    Clear indicators
    Renault 16inch steels

And in prep for what fuss asked about. A shallow sump and the puck mod.
Also have Coilovers and koni shocks supplied by Al. Also maybe some wheels .these are all waiting in the wings for this weekend.(weather conditions permitting) Its going to be axle flip time!

Well it finally looks like im going to get round to lowering the van, after months of waiting, this weekend its going to happen!

Im embarrassed to say that spending 15 years of my working life garage and nearly the same in a engine testing/development department. due to work commitments, a death in the family, broken welder and a ton of other shit. I needed to find someone else who knows what they are doing to weld new spring saddles to my axle!

So it was decided that I was going to get Al to sort my axle out.

So a few weeks ago sent my spare axle off to Al. Received it back a few days later cheers Al

All that was left to do was to drill 4mm into the axle tube for the spring location pins. So I knocked up a 14.9mm dia bit of silver steel in work as a snug fit centre punch ,

And heres all rear axle bits all painted and ready to fit at the weekend.

At the moment the van is running 16inch Renault steels with toyo proxes but after the drop
Im going to be running these
Satin anthracite 16 inch team dynamics 1.2. These where bought by a mate, special order without the lettering on the rim. Lucky for me he sold his car before he fitted them.

Managed to get home at 5 today, thought I would make a start removing the old axle.
    Modded axle and koni's on.

Back on its wheels, may need to order some shackles off Al!

Going to sort the front end after work tomorrow,
