Hmmm isn't that a question... I assumed all slimline fans would be much of a muchness... Suppose I'd better actually get my caddy back and go some measurements

I'm going to chop through where the red marks are, and attach a slim fan to what remains hopefully to make the whole shroud much thinner but still retain the heat separation properties

Will you not need a bigger rad for the PD setup?

Just fit two slimline fans and do away with the shroud

Having spoken to those already running this setup I should be fine with the stock radiator to start with, obviously if I intend to rag it all the time It'll show on the gauge and I'll know I need to invest in something bigger.

If I recall Tagg senior drove all the way to Austria with a "Scene" tiny 1.3 radiator in his PD just fine, so I reckon I'll manage fine with a significantly larger 1.6D one

Ah I also have the donor's mk4 radiator fans lying around at home, I'll investigate that. Got a feeling it's got a fat motor on it though....

    Thanks for the wishes DMF!

You do make a point. I'm just going to get it on the road and worry about a bigger rad later

    Stock Radiator for a PD150 - 399 x 24 x 647 = 6,195,672
    Stock 1.6D Radiator - 570 or 525(?) x 325 x 25 = 4,265,525 min or 4,631,250 max

Quite a big hit on volume...

    for comparison VR6 Corrado Radiator - 630 x 322 x 34 mm = 6,897,240

Would I regret buying a cheap radiator like this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Corrad...QAAOSwoR9aBIBC
also what hoses are going to stretch all the way over there?! lol

Rufus although untested I have just bought a mk2 passat rad which has a core size of 700x320x34 assuming all your pipes are on the left hand side

What was the damage Mike? How does it fit in the Caddy? Does it line up with the widest pre cut radiator mount holes? I'm interested in seeing how it works out for you!
