    Not this time

Will be getting a PD 150 engine and injectors with a hybrid PD170 turbo and mapped to around 200hp (or as much as I can get on a smokeless tune).

Hey that sounds very interesting and keep the thread going and lets all see what you get up to in your workshop.

    Good luck Neil 4022.

Nice home workshop as well with very posh cladding. That would be a first time home near me £99.999 & 99 down & move in the next day.

Thank god for wimpy homes. Lol

    Right

Got the PD150 engine with a missfire into the workshop ready to strip and inspect!

I did a compression test whilst it was in the Golf which turned out to be inconclusive

The air filter was muddy, damp & mouldy, so I suspect water ingress which means there is a good chance of hydraulic lock and a bent rod or two!

    IMG_2679.jpg

Before removing the belt I just wanted to check the cam timing as the belt looked a bit ropey and had been catching on a bent cover But the previous dickhead who had done the belt had chewed up the Allen bolts, so I had to drill out 3 of the 4 (nothing winds me up more than undoing some other cunts lashup).

    IMG_2680.jpg

    IMG_2681.jpg

Turns out the timing is spot on so can eliminate that one

    IMG_2682.jpg

Moving on to the injector loom. When I removed the loom from the injectors No.4 cylinder broke apart! Im not sure if I was a bit heavy handed, but these looms are very brittle anyway and should be changed as a matter of course. But more than that, VCDS showed a missfire on cylinder No.4!

    IMG_2683.jpg

Things were going smoothly, and then when I was ready to remove the head I run out of tool talent I could not find my 12mm long spline anywhere, so that put a halt to this afternoons work

More updates when I either find or purchase another tool. Bollox!

    Ok, tool problem solved

    Removed the head to reveal:

Spot the deck heights! No.4 cylinder nearest which is approx 2-3mm down on the others!

That will be a bent conrod as suspected then

ASZ & ARL have bigger cajonas (journals), plus BLS conrods are made from chocolate

Received the new GT1749VC Hybrid turbo from www.xman750.co.uk today

This turbo basically uses the PD140 8v Hot Side/Manifold with the PD170 16v innards and once mapped with the PD130/150 injectors we should see the best part of 200hp which will be plenty for a daily driver
