Thread: EVERY user read this otherwise you could get a BAN!

EVERY user read this otherwise you could get a BAN!

    Now I have you attention.

Occasionally we get hit with Bots posting Spam on this website, unfortunately it will always be a hazard on forums when the membership is open to everyone!

We dont need advise on how to stop it, we can only work with the software and safety nets we currently have, but as always the scum on this planet are always one step ahead!

WHAT WE DO NEED FROM YOU IS:

    1. Press the "REPORT" button if you see spam

Thats it, its simple as that

WHAT I DONT NEED YOU TO DO IS:

    1. DO NOT reply to the spam posts (its computer generated not a real person)

In truth its all a fucking PITA and an inconvenience for Dub Monkey and myself, THe LAST thing we need is members replying to spam When you do, you are basically spamming yourself, and make our job TWICE as hard!

If I find ANYONE replying to SPAM then that means that they haven't read this post and will be hit with a 7 day ban from this website for their trouble of not bothering (no excuses)

For those of you who have been hitting the "report" button, THANK YOU

Thanks to all for reading and understanding, so we can swiftly remove the offending posts

I read this as threads started by a spammer, however good question as the vzi caddy for sale contained a reply from spam, would a reply to the genuine content of that thread be classed as ban worthy??

i'm pretty sure common sense would work here

if your reply is in reply to something posted by a spammer, then you get a ban. If you reply to a thread but ignore the spam, then you are ok (and report the spam)

If its relevant for the thread then thats fine, just ignore the spam content and it will get deleted when either of us are online to do so.

If its not relevant to the post then we will only have to delete that also, doubling our work!

Does the software package we use not have a 'pictorial word trap' we could employ to cut down the number of bots that get through?

    BBB
I saw two rabbits in a field the other day..... I'm going to call at the house and see if they're for sale

    Then let the teardown begin
