It is specific to the VR6 type engines, so it will mount the 2.8 & 2.9 VR, 2.8 4mo & R32 engines so long as a 5 speed is used. But in theory yes you could use it except for 1 mount to mount any VW engine

This is the VR6 mounting Kit, it consists of 6 fabricated mounts, and 5 welded plates. the price of this kit reflects the time cost and money gone into producing them. £350 inc vat & delivery. Combine that with a cheap VR6 donor and you have yourselves a cheap VR6 MK1

    fabricated parts

    Parts that require welding in

vr6 kit looks smart. Stupid question but is the vr6 kit fairly self explanatory where those mounts go when you offer the engine up?

kit looks awesome al, i'm quite pleased with myself too because you've had it made exactly how i've fitted mine i'd say thats a bloody good price for the kit too, certainly alot easier to buy that kit than make your own from scracth (still cheating though haha)

These are the parts that need welding in

This mount is where the A/C pump would normally sit

And this is the drivers side rear mount, ignore the VR alloy mount in the picture as this is replaced by the mount in the above pictures

The kit is basically an updated and improved version of the Detlev kit that we used back in 2003 on B1GVR

It was an email through your shop web site mate. I will have a vr6 mount kit but might need them welded in unless there is a easy how to and where to weld the mounts in. I couldn't find a phone number for you.

The welding is quite straight forward. The kit uses 5 mounts to mount the VR.

You would mount the engine first using 3 of the bolt in mounts, these are all on the gearbox end so will give you your position.

Then you would weld in the two mounts on the drivers side, buy supporting that end of the engine for the correct height.

On the drivers side chassis, the original 4 cylinder mount will need to be removed. Also the chassis leg will either need to be notched or beaten out the way to make clearance for the block.

    Gander I will PM you

    Al

Not at the moment Jon, whilst the welder is out its not to much of a drama fabricating the down pipes

Also to use this kit you will need 3 rubber mounts

1x MK1 Rubber mount (under battery tray) http://www.justcaddys.com/gearbox_mo...pper_left.html

    2x MK2/3 Rear gearbox/mount bush

you will already have one of these if you have a complete donor vehicle. I can supply these as well if needed

all you need is 5-speed gearbox mounts and cut down the standard 1.6D engine mount apparently. Still waiting for Ultraviolent to send me the mounts to mock up my engine but the mounts on the body stay right where they are
