Thread: Al's MK1 VR6 Turbo (Back in the game!)

Im not doing it to sell, it owes me far more than I could ever sell it for and I still need to spends ££££'s to finish! If that were the plan it would have been better to break it up and sell in it bits now.

Would be hard to sell it now anyhow, I have owned it for more than 15 years

I was 18 when I got my caddy, I’m 30 in November. I remember back then looking through the build thread of yours hoping one day I’d have a VRT. Glad to see you’re getting it all back together.

I am still working on this, but I just bought Mel another van so was spending my spare time readying that for her.

Painted some more black bits in between working on the T5!

For the life of me I cannot find the fuel tank that I took out of the Caddy and the next best one I could find in my just was a slightly damaged one that was in my old Leisure that got written off. So that will have to do for now. I ended up stone chipping the bottom to help protect it further.

I dont think I would have put a fuel tank in my loft mate, and I dont recall seeing it up there with all the other car parts Yes still have the black one in waiting

Im just totally baffled to where the tank has gone, the two that I found are from leisure and a perforated one from a diesel i broke up years ago

You know I thought I had sussed it for a minute! I changed my tank in November 2009 because I fitted an external fuel pump (my original tank was modified for an internal pump), so my brain was thinking that I used the leisure tank then, but I just checked and that didnt get written off to Feb 2010! So its back to the head scratching

Didn't end up on the Sport as a safety precaution for the trip to Austria?

I’m still surprised nobody makes these to order to suit our high performance caddy requirements and look forward to reading your posts

I have been looking at making brand new Caddy axles for some time now that are flipped, shortened & drilled for discs!

So I got some ends laser cut, I also shortened it by 40mm either side. Next step is to get the shock mounts laser cut and folded and some CDS ordered so I can start production.

Its something I should look at making really, a bolt-in alloy tank with internal pump & swirl pot would be ideal

looks good, but only really useful for someone who wants a low caddy and no suspension travel. would be nice to have some sort of bolt in coilover kit, but that's just asking for too much.

Shortened axle is even worse for stability, it'd look more like a drag car because you'd need fat tyres for it.

it'd just be nice if people knew what these are capable of with some mods, instead of slamming them on the ground bouncing everywhere.
