Made some progress today, nothing major, but will definetly help when the new bed goes in. All the cross braces were really bowed, as well as one of the rails. So I spent some time straightening the rail, cut and test fit the cross braces. I have to finish cleaning up the undercarriage before welding the cross braces in. They sit nice and level

Picked up a few more goodies today.

One of the last new tailgates still available from VW of NA, for those that thought 500.00 cdn. was a lot of $ for my used tailgate, the new one retails at 974.00 cdn.

    and a new battery tray

    Must be a screw loose

Not really, just want Caddy to be MINT, if there is any such thing.......

And I did say retails for that amount, I buy a lot of parts from them, plus I do work for them, so they treat me more then fair.

Genuine VW as are almost all the parts I have gathered.

    part # 171 803 119 F

it came as 2 pieces but I sent the other piece back, it was a bracket that mounts to the battery tray for holding the air cleaner. I don't know what the part # was for it.

That is some kind of sweet project! Love the stainless bed and all the new VW bits. Didn't think you could buy a lot of the ones you've gotten! Keep up the good work!

The idea of using engine stands isn't mine, someone I know is doing his Caddy the same way (on engine stands) but hey it works excellent

I gave up on the airbag kit from Airbagit.com, heard it is real crap, so I was looking for options and came up with this setup which seems like it would work rather nice. It would involve flipping the axle and removing all but the main leaf and running a setup like this.
