The silver stuff if flashband (I think and from Wicks.)
The foam is acoustic foam that we use in our studios at work.
Looks kind of like underlay but is denser.

    horray, got engine out.

then rewired the engine bay so wires run through the chassis legs and front beam for that clean look

    then removed the battery tray

next going to remove other mounts. remove sealer and weld any unused holes before sanding and primering.

    also started undersealing underside.
stripped back the crud with a scraper and sand blaster then coated it up.

also removed M/C and servo to replace them with mk2 gti 16v kit.

Am actually going to redo it tonight.
Trace the loom back to the bulk head so its loose.
Take off your front N/S wing.
you want to use a hole cutter to put a hole in the inner wing so you can hide loom between inner and outer wings.then pop it back in so it goes directly into the front beam.
will have to extend parts of it.
drill a hole in front member for the light and fan wires to pop out of.
Im probably going to pop other wires (starter and alt out and run under the N/S engine mount out of sight.

removed all the sealer last night and am ready to weld holes etc.

    Horrah. big weekend.
Finished stripping the bay and got it in primer

then did final fill and sand and remembered to weld up the holes from the old loom.

    this is the colour

Its a custom mixed version of this

then got my base coat on. this is not the exact final colour as once the engine is fitted it will go to my mates bodyshop where he will spray the rest of the caddy ( hes porsche trained and done all my previous show cars so it will be awsome.) and will be adding some fine gold flip to the final top coat of laquer.
    anyway heres the base

before doing this front valence i moved the rad holes towards front of the car and removed some metal fron front panel so rad can hide under top front panel.

4 coats of paint and 4 coats of laquer later

Thanks to my mate johnson who came down and helped out with this.

next ive got to change the cambelt and water pump on my moded AAZ before fitting it along with my new servo and M/C before taking to body shop.

Fitted my new water pump and uprated cambelt (wider, thicker and made of stronger material according to my mate who reces vw's )last night and repainted all the red bits on my engine to a more fitting colour that will go better with the green and matches my interior.

    first coat of beige

    getting there.

Just got to paint my gearbox and set up pump timing then it can go in the bay.

Poped down my unit last night.
Timed up the engine and fitted it in to its new home

Some of this will be removed and painted and chromed but not just yet.

Got a busy day tomorow as going to pick up another project for a mate (98 civic coupe that we will fit an accord type-r 2.2 Vtec to before turboing it.)
and an brake conversion on an mr2 turbo but if i get time i will plumb the engine in and hopefully get it fired up.
If i can get down there sunday ill run all my new brake lines and fit the M/C and do the last bit of undersealing.
    still some way togo.

    Hi guys.
Moved out of my garage this weekend so wont have ramps for a whilst so it has been a mad rush this weekend to do the last bits under the caddy before it goes to the body shop.
the whole underside has now been undersealed, all new breaklines have been fitted and i have finished my exhaust system. (2.5 in straight through and hidden under the rear valence)
    also fitted new handbreak cables.

forgot to take one of the tailpipe but will do at some point.

then modified my driveshafts to go from mk1 hubs to mk3 gearbox with new CV joints and boots.

and finished the new wiring loom

going to bleed brakes tomorrow night then its off to bodyshop where i can get a small rest before getting it back and rebuilding it.

at last the caddy went to my mates bodyshop last night.
Should come out spot on as he is damn good and done all sorts of showcars and exotica like full restos on old astons etc.

hes done all my past show cars too. heres some pics of them and i realise they wont be to everyones taste but im big into my jap and yank motors as well as the old school scene and these were all done exactly how i wanted which is what moddings all about.

this was an mr2 we did for my now ex in house of colour irredesent

my gto tt show car that we did in 2002 before the jap scene got big. kits a bit dated now but at the time it was the first highly modded gto around and got in a mag, a calender and was filmed for BBC2's car nation. Its the longest ive ever kept a car for. a whole 3 years

    supra

my porsche droptop painted in suzuki irredesent black with subtle blue flip.

and my baby my ac cobra v8 replica

    me poncing in it

Hes also painting my dash which is now a BMW M3 dash with a custom centre console.
It will probably get flocked at some point though.

    hi guys.
went down the bodyshop again yesterday and my caddys now painted.
still needs the final flat and polish to make it really really shiney.
Its come out really good although not 100% perfect but im a perfectionist and as it was sprayed by a mate i got a good deal so im dead happy.

    on ramp at CVS

Doug who ownes the shop and always does a spot on job and does great mates rates for me..cant recommend enough.

    first guide coat

    second guide coat

doug crying at the amount of work

few coats of satin black base coat

then 12 layers of mica green followed by 2 layers of gold metalflaked laquer then 4 more coats of clear coat.

got to pick it up and start the rebuild now.

my custom dash will be removed and sent off to be trimmed then when thats back refit carpet dash dials seats and new roofliner and the outside trim.
bought myself a set of polised deep dish RH Cup alloys too so cant wait for them to arive.
