I'm a new member (US, Northern CA) and have just bought an 81 Caddy with an 83 Jetta turbo diesel. It's a great truck and I've been very happy with both it's power and it's mpg.

The original 15 gal. fuel tank has been removed and replaced with an 11 gal. tank mounted in the bed. I'd like to replace the original tank and use the one in the bed for vegetable oil. So here's my question, is the original 15 gal. tank special to the Caddys or can I use one from another VW? Also, any ideas of where I could get one?

I figure that with the two tanks the truck whould have an over 1000 mile range. Enough to drive me somewhere warm for the winter.

Thanks,

Nick

Nick, you must cook alot of French Fries to need that much oil with you.
Only joking, sounds like a good plan,
I'm sure Garry will be pleased to see another diesel fella on the forum!!!

Well, driving my new truck has cut my fueling bill in half. Besides, what other vehicle gets this kind of milage and can still carry multiple sheets of plywood? I just wish I had bought one sooner.

MMMMM french fries...
