Am looking at the various posts of mixing ATF in with fuel or when changing fuel filters. I can get used ATF by the gallon from a local place that does the changes for Auto Trans cars. If I filter it well before adding to the fuel & mix in a few gallons per fill up, will it do any harm to the injection pump, lines, tank or the engine?

Same question on used motor oil? If I filter it well and add to the diesel fuel, will I have any problems as a consequence of using it? I don't mind a bit of smoke as much of the driving is dirt/mountain/back country roads with little or no traffic.

Is there any downside to adding in a gallon or more of one or the other, or each, when I fill up the vehicle each time?

Not veggie oil but at least it would be recycling & I can get this stuff free.

Besides any particulate you could filter both have a tendency to become corrosive from acid formation during use, this could cause problems long term. ATF has the added problem that it will tint your diesel red, if a state trooper samples your tank and it comes up red you will be fined about $2k for using farm diesel which is not taxed. Also keep in mind that if you are getting a lot of soot in your exhaust some of that has to be deposited in the engine and that will eventually cause parts to wear prematurely.

I'm not too worried about the Highway Patrol & that farm fuel thing. It is easily beaten.
The engine, injectors & injector pump is what I would be worried about. If I am getting good performance & add some fuel additive like Stanadyne every tank as I do now would this fuel mix do any harm?

ATF has good cleaning capacities.. running your diesel on ATF is no problem, it is thin and doesn't eat seals away.

You could let the engine suck out of a seperate canister instead of dumping it into you tank.
