Hey all,
I have an '82 that looses fuel pressure in turns. It begins at about a 2/3rds of a tank and gets progressively worse. I can't get close to the bottom of the tank because of it, pretty maddening in hard turns or just before a refill...

What will I need to do to fix this?

Thanks for your time...

David

PS-- I work at a dealer in the US. If you need help getting a part number, I will gladly help you...

It sounds like the feed pipe inside the fuel tank has corroded through, so everytime you corner with lower fuel levels the pump just draws air whilst cornering, this pipe goes from the center (lowest point) of the tank to the outlet :tb . this is a very common fault with all MK1 generation VW's :bh You will normally find that turning right highlights the problem more

In the UK this metal pipe was replaced by a plastic & copper pipe ;) so VW were obviously aware of the problem.

The only way to solve this is by replacing the tank, or for somebody to repair it for you, either way its a tank out job B)

I am fixing that very problem, this very moment. I can rebuild your tank exactly like I did mine for 250 usd you pay shipping both ways. I can supply pictures of my repair procedure and I do professional restorations. I got very tired of my truck doing the very same problem, and I have the fix figured out. Email me at motoboy145@yahoo.com thanks Jody

I will be posting pix here as soon as I get my fast connection back....

I appreciate both offers, I will prolly be more interested in the pics to be honest... :D

Luckily, I just got the FI more closely dialed in, so I should get more than the 20 mpg I have been seeing. This made the problem worse more often of course... :bh
