Not what you'd expect. So for you other "oil burners" what other substances are you willing to burn in your caddy. I've been know to add a little (filtered) motor oil, or hydraulic oil. Have read that small percentages of gasoline, kerosene, and buttermilk ;) are ok.
Specifically what kinda filtering would you need for cooking or other waste oils.

I buy new vegetable oil in 20 litre containers and run 50% diesel 50% vegetable oil. Any more than 50% though and its too thick to come through the injector pump and injectors properly and then the engine will knock like hell.
But once I've done my respray and everything else i will be fitting a seperate tank and running a twin tank system. Basically to run straight vegetable oil you need to heat it before it gets to the injector pump so it thins down. So the answer is running a twin tank system with purge valve and inline heater. The heater can either be electrical or you can get a fuel heater from VW which mounts on the bulkhead and pipes into the coolant system.
So basically you start up on diesel (which is in a small seperate tank in the bed), let the engine get up to working temperature then flick the switch on the dashboard. The purge valve will then start to open gradually allowing the vegetable oil to come through with the diesel and then after about 45 seconds the diesel supply stops and you will be running on pure pre-heated vegeatable oil.
You can buy the entire kit online, and it costs about £450. And it can be fitted in a day no problems. It may sound a lot but if you do a lot of mileage than the savings for us in the UK is exceptional. Of course customs and excise are now taxing the vegetable oil, so you have to fill out a tax return at the end of each month and send them a cheque. But you could tell them you only used 10 litres! They will never know as long as you don't take the piss.

All I can say is Stanadyne, Stanadyne, Stanadyne!!! Get the performance forumla. Better mileage, more power, better lubricity, anti gell for winter use. That's all the truckdoza will ever see in her lifetime.

I add about 50% sunfloweroil to my diesel and once in a while I use Shell V-Power Diesel.. That diesel has special additives, I've noticed a difference when I still had the 1600D in the caddy, it ran about 5km faster on 50% V-power :music: (or it could be the wind)
