I recently purchased an '82 VW rabbit pickup (caddy) with a dangling hose where the fuel expansion tank should connect. Where should the fuel expansion tank be located? Under the hood near the passenger side head light?
Thanks

If it's what I'm thinking of the look up inside the right side (passenger us) fenderwell behind the wheel. There may be a plastic jug of sorts hiding up in there. *IIRC* Good luck :)

morts,
that's what the vw manual says, not sure about the caddy.

Yeah, I know it was there on my rabbit gti, it is not there on my pickup, but I don't think that diesels have these, only gas, right? I would think that the caddy would have it in the rabbit spot but could be wrong. ;)

jr, was hose in engine compartment or underneath? Curious since I'm fresh from a fuel tank tangle.

I think maybe the hose you're talking about is the one that just vents to the inside of the bumper support? (Via a hole drilled in it)

The hose was just dangling in the engine compartment, near the fuel filter. It enters the engine compartment along with the supply and return fuel lines (I think).
