hi there, got a c reg petrol w/twin choke weber carb k&n etc.. but the carb kinda fell off as i went round a corner! a friend says its the plastic gasket that attaches it to the manifold but the person i bought the car off said the carb wasnt standard? where can i get this gasket from? or can i seal it w/instant gasket?
any helps appreciated

It is the rubber seal that attaches the carb to the manifold.
The carb is not standard, but the manifold I doubt has been changed.
I think you will have to buy this part from VW, but try other places first like www.gsfcarparts.com or someone else!!
I think I heard someone bought one recently and it was about £30!!!

hi cheers for that- i think i may stick with the duck tape holding it down as i cant afford that at the mo!

Stealbikes- You can probably get away with not using the gasket and sealing things up with a gasoline (petrol) compatable gasket maker. Too bad shipping is probably a killer to the UK as I have a weber 32/36 and manifold that I am trying to get rid of. If the gasket that you are talking about is the thick one then you'll want to make sure that there is still room for the butterflys to open properly but I don't think this should be a problem. You should have an adapter plate (metal) between the early type manifold and the weber carb though. Hope this helps.:)

weld the carb onto a spare mani...its the best thing especially if its a weber downdraught
