Hi all,

Right, I know biod. is 'aggressive' to natural rubber such as the old fuel lines on caddy - but I just wanted to cover the other possibilities to eliminate before i spend and work...

I have done 2000 miles on biod. (with no probs.) But now i am getting about 25% air in the fuel line from filter to pump.

I was wondering if fuel filter problems (such as with the drain plug which i know nothing about) could manifest similar trouble - any experience out there which could make my life easier?

hope,

Well I suggest changing the fuel lines. Vitron lines are the best, otherwise higher quality fuel lines, not what you get from the chain auto stores, will get you several years. All this depends on what quality of bio-D you are sending through, ie. if it is homemade, is it washed. Also have you changed the filter? That much bio-d should have cleaned the nasty dino diesel from the system significantly. Should be two or three filters before the junk is out.

I think I will take that advice in the long run.

Just got inside after a win!

I took the fuel feed direct from a drum of diesel, no bubbles upstream of filter unit, but affirmative at outlet.

Tightening the drain plug improved (less bubbles) - but not fix, anyhow this was enough to get me down to the parts store where a new filter completely solves the problem; i guess it wasn't sealing right.

(Also incidently found there is no pump in the fueltank of my vehicle ((or it doesn't work:-)) unlike some internet posts suggested - so it appears the injection pump is the only one on the system - which 'pulls' from the filter and tank).

I am about to install an inline filter which I hope will not overload the pump (we'll see i guess) - better get some more jubilee clips i think...

So far I've been running ESOxxx ('SIMPLY' from broadland fuels) With 2 filter changes :
1st change after switching from 100 miles on 50/50 blend to B100
2nd change just now (1900 later)

Their fuel checks out at pH7 and drives well (a few cold start issues but then my battery isn't great and the car has done nearly 200, 000 miles! ), but I have had some 25l drums stored for 3 months (dry'ish' and cool) And one of them has 'floaty bits' in it whilst the other drum doesnt. This suggests something wrong with storage or mixed age gear...
Anyhow, I'll filter that and carry on I suppose!
