Has anyone rebuilt their cis fuel distributer, or tried to clean out the carbon and other crap that builds up in there over the years? My VW mechanic told me not to bother opening it up, says it'll never run right after. Any tips.
Thanks

I suggest cleaning it out, so long as you're sure that's the problem, and if that doesn't help just get another from the junk yard. They can be had new iirc but you could buy about a dozen of them at the yard before you got into the price of a new unit.

one of my mechanics once told me the same thing, ended up getting another one from online. ofcourse it was for my 92 passat, but the basic concept and workings are the same. now that i have three extra, i think i might try cleaning one completely

Let me know how it works out. I've got a spare fox one I might take apart/clean and put on my golf but the fuel lines are prety rusted and snap easy, this is my winter beater And I don't want to have to get all the fuel lines. quote:Originally posted by zelreth
