basically i want one. i had a side exit before (custom) but now i want a different one. does anyone know of any good custom exhaust places about that won't cost me a fortune.

the reason is mine fell off last night and i thought this is a good opportunity to get it done.

any hep/numbers would be great.

cheers

Can you not buy the tubing & boxes & make your own?? I don't think it's too hard.

I am hoping to fab a twin exit exhaust sytem, with a pipe exiting at either side at the rear.
gonna use some motorbike silencers on the rear.
other option is a mini cooper s exhaust system, which I have aquired, that has twin pipes exiting in the middle at the rear.
I think either one will look nice, especially the mini one as it is already fabrictaed with 2 silencers on it,they are plentiful now too,due to everyone doing the works upgrade.
should be a few on ebay for next to nothing

as I work for bmw,I can tell you that the weight of the system isn't any near as heavy as you think,1 person could lift the system with one hand.

Where would you keep your spare wheel?

good point, not really fussed about that on my car,I have a tyre weld kit and compressor as used on m3's.
I have a friend with a similar exhaust set up and it looks and sounds mental

Making your own is a good idear, you can choose the number of boxes and the diameter of tube, but you may need the use of a mig.:)

That would look very cool, is there enough room for those big cans under the bed though. I mean, I know its a big area, but they're BIG!!

Cut off the cans & weld some "straight through" pipes to it, small silencer in the middle and Voila!

i've bit the bullet and am going the "pay £300" route. its gonna be a beast though. i'll post some pics up when its done.

a quick question for kev though - i'm having the exhaust finish under the bed towards the back but not having the tailpipes showing. will this be an mot failure?

cheers

You will be ok [ make sure the mot tester can reach it when checking your co.],There are now many modern cars with hidden tail pipes.:)
