not that i can afford it (nor any of my ideas for that matter), but has anyone tried to make a real racy interior in a caddy? something like a tight fitting roll cage perhaps? im curious as to what other seating options will fit nicely in a caddy, and what they would look like. Anyone got something besides recaro's (not that i dont think those are hot, cuz i do) but i'm thinkin like some sparco buckets with a four point harness. pictures of what u guys have done would be appreciated, or what others have done as well for that matter. some day i'll win the lottery!

yup, it's all been done. full cages, buckets, converted to rwd, vr, 1.8T, you name and somebody has it on their car. what i'm wondering, is are you actually gonna take this car on the track? a roll cage on the street is not a good idea, for your safetys sake. unless you're gonna be driving to work in a helmet every day.

I would like to take it on the track, but wouldnt hurt for a safety stand point as well in the big picture as far as car accidents and such (get the rents to pitch in as a christmas gift?) as far as a helmet to school, wouldnt the high back of a seat or head rest eliminate the need? unless driving extremely agressively or racing of course. you can also get foam padding in a variety of colors and textures from jegs. i also ask about roll cages cuz im hoping it would stiffen the chasis for handling advantages. I know it helps rabbit gti's handling, but wonder if it has any effect in the small cabin of a truck. once again emphasis on my not being able to afford this, just a thirst for knowledge. long term perhaps. thanx again.

yeah, the reason i brought it up is because people die from them on the street, indluding a close friend of mine. crash, hit your head on the bar, skull cracks open, end of story. a reason the stiffen up the chasis so well on a bunny too is because they're mounting on the rear strut towers, and sorta "pulling everything together". the only strut towers we have are in the front, so it really wouldn't help much at all. if you wanna stiffen things up get some H&H sway bars front and back. the roll cage idea would look cool, but wouldn't do to much. and the cabins in caddys are small enough as it is unfortunately. build a caddy with hydraulics and a roll cage and i swear to god i'll hunt you down and kill you, lol.
as for the sparcos, i just didn't like having a one piece race seat in the caddy. they're never gonna handle like a bunny or really perform all that well at the auto-x/track etc, so i kinda figured, whats the point? i'm not driving a race car here, sure they look cool, but is it worth the sore back and allways being hunched over feeling smashed against the windshield? nope. i primarily just drive this car, for long trips, to work and back, to the grocery store, etc. It's my only car. so thats why a stiff ass race seat sucked. try a 16 hour straight trip from seattle to los angeles in a sparco sometime ;)
