I was looking for seat belt buckles fo a 83 Caddy and happened accross this[:0]:
Unlatching Due to Structural Failure
Although a February 1982 Repa patent
warned of the dangers of unlatching due to
"very strong tilting forces" in a dual side
recess latch plate buckle with a "single
locking latch," Repa's single latch buckle
continued to appear in such production
vehicles as the 1979-84 VW Rabbit despite
the existence of many substantially safer
design alternatives.
Soooooo.. Should I be looking towards modifying the safety restraint system to a newer version, because thats why VW doesn't sell them anymore.
Any thoughts
