hello everyone!
i have a mk3 20vturbo, and a mk1 1300cc which is currently on ebay = http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4608316051&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1.
my buddy vectroids told me to come here, so i did. is there many 20vt owners/conversions here? if there is, you may like this forum = www.vag20v.net VERY helpful site. :thumbs_up

Thanks for the info...I have 20vt 1.8 from a Skoda VRS which I have chipped along with bailey dump valve, big intercooler (Merc Sprinter) KO3s (standard) along with Samco induction (as well as all the other boost pipes) De-cat and larger de-restricted down pipe....havent had it on the rollers yet but REVO think its around 240bhp.

Next its a quaife diff then 300 bhp here we come with bigger injectors-remap and some form of bigger Turbo prob IHI or Garret...should easily see a reliable 300+ (dont want to go mad as prefer driveable and reliable) :)

Welcome...but buy a Caddy!

ok, the day has come. shes ready to be picked up!

on a trailor though, next step is fitting the IC, pipework and
putting the dash back in. Then back to be checked and tuned!

You do not realise how happy i am, after 6-7 months of waiting
i can finally have her back home to work on!!!! WAHOO!!

What plans my friend?

Judging by the title,
the obligatory 20VT transplant,
but what on the outside;

Let us all know,

im turning her into a smoothly modded golf, little bit of a sleeper, though only going to be about 200bhp to start with. it will just be a large front mount IC giving it away.
il post a few pics, but when im done, it will look totally different to what the pics are. skirts are coming off, standard mirrors going back on, 2-bar grille, smooth rear bumper, black angel eyes, and 18" A8s, (il post a photoshopped A8 piccy)

Nice ideas for mods mate, don't go too crazy though,

no way! ive taken the M3 skirts and mirrors off, along with the twin headlights already. ;) im going for a smoother look now. and if i attempted to put lights underneath, i think they would scrape on the floor! :D

that baby really is low.
You will have to avoid speed-bumps, ferry trips and being dragged onto the back of a recovery truck, or it'll be shagged!!

You should ov gone with a merc sprinter intercooler mate, they fit lovely and just touch both chassis legs so you can get no wider, and tuck nicely in front of the rad.
Thats wot I used in my G60 conversion and it nicely handling the 2 bar that Im pushin through it.

well 18" wheels are goin on yet, then i might jack the coilys up a bit? ;)

24-03-2006, 06:42 PM
yeah, IC looks very vulnerable there, I too went for the Merc Sprinter jobby.

Nice lookin project though.

Remember to use really good quality hose clips on the boost pipes and you MUST use swaged ends as it will pop straight off a plain tube...mine was blowing off two 6 jubilee clips which were done up to almost breaking point and it still used to pop off every now and again and the sounds is really scary, it also puts the ECU in to limp home mode or at the very least pegs back all the parameters.

Trust me, at least add blobs of weld for the clips to take up on if they slip.
