Hello, my name is David, and I love 'dubs... *crowd* 'Hello, David'

I bought this Caddy about a month ago, first one I have driven & owned. I presently have an '83 GTI, '86 & '88 16V Sciroccos, '83 Caddy 2.0 16V project, and more engines and parts than I can reasonably count...

I sling VW parts at a dealership in Oklahoma, been here 4 years. Been around 'dubs for nearly 15 years, mostly air-cooled and A1 (Mk1) cars.

Anyone searching for help with part numbers, prices and availability, feel free to contact me. I will do what I can...

fahrvergnugen@cox.net. Just head the note P&A so I will understand what you need...

Cheers,
David

Another member of the "Messin' with A1's for Over a Decade" club, eh? I'd say hello David, but you've already done it for me. Nothing like being pre-empted to be made feeling redundant. ;)

Al - "... Never heard of anyone owning Two 16v Rocco's before..." You haven't been paying attention again, Machine. :D :D Sold the second of three 16V 'Rocs last Nov. Still have the best one, possibly the finest all original in the 'States (72k pampered miles). It'll be in new hands when the right buyer comes along. Or on eBay by the end of the year.

Cheers

Welcome dude! This place is the best, especially if you like Diesels. But if you don't, it's still all good.

Another member of the "Messin' with A1's for Over a Decade" club, eh?Depending on how you define messin' with then I guess you could consider me a lifetime A1 messer as I came home from the hospital in a Mk1 rocco. Got any pics of your pristine 16V IC? Too bad it's not a Mk1 as they are more my cup of tea (and apparently my parents as well)

Welcome to the forum, David! I agree that one good vw deserves another- or 4 in your case. I miss my '84 Gti but if it was between that and my caddy, the pickup would of course win. (not in a race) Anyhow,
Welcome!

Thanks for the kind reply, folks. I would put up pics, and might eventually. I am afraid I will depress you. Most are parts-cars only. HOWEVER, both pickups are more solid than most of the collection...

I will post pics when I come across a camera...

Morts -- I said "...Messin' with A1's..." , not messin' in A1's. :D :D

I'll post up a pic of my 'Roc for ya' sometime. Are you its new owner-to-be? ;)

I've only been messin' with A1's since 2000. So I'm half way there. But VW's have been in my blood since I was a wee lad. I used to help the old gaffer who used to do all kinds of moonlighting every weekend fixing cars.

Can it tow my boat? Of course I've been using the audi to tow with and it works great. Even falls within the aprox. 1300lb tow limit of the 4000. I've always tried to steer away from the 16v but if it calls my name.....

Do I remember it's a Hobie? Or was it a Laser? Wouldn't think it'd be that heavy.

I've never towed anything with it, but I've pulled a 1500+ lb trailer with my Mk1 on two different 1700+ mile moves, and it handled it fine. The 16V MK2 weighs about 350# more than the MK1, so should do even better yet.

BTW, I forgot to say that the pic won't be anything special -- it'll just look like a brand new one in any old 'Rocco brochure. :)

...but if it calls my name... Here, mortsie, mortsie..., here mortsie. :D :D :D

I did used to sail both those, however my quest for more junk has found me a nice 1972 15' Glastron V153 futura fiberglass runabout. Now that I finished up the truck I needed another project. Well I figured my time was running out before the whole wedding thing so I should spend all my money before it would become 'our' money. hahahaha. You'll be happy to know that I've added some VAG parts, namley a vw voltmeter and my audi's stock tape deck. I figure the combo weighs in about 1300lbs.

Some cars are classics from the begining and just best left unmolested. Followed this mantra with my old Gti RIP. I guess I did drill 2 holes in the bottom of her bumper for a set of fog lights but the moddin ended there. Even got rid of the PO speakers in favor of some new 3.5" and 5x7 or whatever crazyness was in the back of those rabbits.

So is the 16V black or red? }:)

Here we are getting about as 'whiskey tango' as possible before I am run out of the neighborhood!
enjoy

'Member them pics I was going to sling up? Well, here you go...

Heres' the 2.0 16V project (non-running) :( I will have it running and driving by spring.

The muffler hood ornament is to stop the hood from flying up. We have strong winds here in OK, and there is no latch on it presently. (NLA)

The 16V I have mostly parted...

Not...

I should take pics of the other 16V before it goes away, I just sold it...

So. Are you limeys now impressed by my 'collection'? :D I am not, I don't have a Rallye Golf... :screwy:
