Hey Guys and gals,

I Mark and i'm from Cheshire NW, anyway I picked up my very first Caddy last night an 86 1600 diesel. Its going to be a bit of a runaround project till I manage to get my Golf Rallye back together. I made the mistake of purchasing one off Ebay without looking at it first, something which I have always been dubious about doing but was assured the caddy was in mint genuine condition (Its only got 66,000 on it, god knows if thats genuine or not).

So basically I have ended up with a bit of a rust bucket, doesnt bother me at all but the missus isnt impressed [xx(], but it is MOT'ed till the end of the year.

I'm not new to Mk1 Golfs so I cant see anything being a problem, first job though will have to be getting shut of that clouded bubble window cause my drive up the motorway last night was a tad scary.

So I'm off to B&Q this morning to get some perspex. Heres my first question (first of many no doubt) what thickness perspex do I need? I might just take the window out and have a look but easier if someone else knows.

I'm after a drivers door (preferably white) and a bare dashboard if any of you corrado/mk3 converted guys has one lying around spare, as mine is a mess being split along the top. Will take a Mk2 dash if anyone has one of them has to be complete and in good nick though :D

welcome to the forum mark, i used 5mm perspex for my quarter lite and rear window did the trick perfectly, make sure you get perspex tho b&Q sell somthing that looks the same BUT its very brittle and hard to cut without cracking,i think its acrilic or somthing, bend the corner if it breaks dont buy it :D

Cheers Guys,

I know the exact stuff you mean, I am big into my ICE and have tried using this stuff many times in the past and its a nightmare to cut!!

Been out in the Caddy most of the day and its growing on me quickly just need to sort out the vision problems with a new back screen. One more fault I have found too is the wiper motor it only runs on the highest speed and only does that very slowly, so something else I need to look at. Oh and the glow plug lights staying on on the dash so will have to check that too tomorrow make sure its just the light and that the glw plugs are staying on all the time.

Yep i'll be there only wont be in the Caddy as my mate is taking a T25 van down to hopfully sell it there.

Thanks, not looking that sh1thot at the moment and since I have decided to respray the caddy before starting work on the Rallye again :(it might not look sh1thot agian for a good while. :(

Well the options I was lulling over where a Mk1 Polo, another Corrado, Golf Estate (dont ask I need something big) or the Caddy and I think I made the right choince in the Caddy :D

My old wreck of a farm truck [8D]

Plenty of rust knocking about but I found to my amazment that the underneath is surprisingly clean and solid. Ordered the new front panels today so just need to find a pair of doors now to start on its respray and arch mods [8D]
