New to this Forum.

A bit about Myself -

Well i`m only 16 [yes still a nipper :I ] But i'm not into saxos/corsas etc etc a single bit.

Don`t know why but they just don`t float my boat!!!.

Anyway, i`m 17 in three months, Just started looking for possible vans/pickups now the time is getting nearer...

Why a van at 17 you ask???

Well i ride mini motocross bikes, So i`ve decided to get myself a pickup instead of a car, plus i love the Mk1 VW caddys so it seems the right choice to me!!!!.

To be honest i don`t know an awful lot,,,, Well, not much at all really!!

Looking to buy a mk1 caddy, still deliberating over diesel/petrol.

Obviously not going to Spend a whole lot as its only my first car, and it's not going to be getting the star treatment like i should imagine some of yours do!!

Anyway that`s a start... Will be popping on the forum to see if theres any Caddys up for grabs and once i have one i should think i`ll become a regular.

Nice site you got here, enjoyed reading this afternoon.

if your doing alot of miles = diesel

pro's
my non-turbo'd work horse i'll sit at 80mph all day and run for bugger all
(running veg oil/diesel mix) but don't tell the taxman
SHHHHH :0
good and reliable, with little up-keep

con's
quite hard to tune-up for power increase
not really a blow your doors off speed demon!!
noisy

if you want to go abit quicker= petrol

pro's
quicker off the mark and overall
quieter
easier to tune....

con's
lots of electrical ignition parts to stop you running
the price of petrol to how many miles you'll be getting
carb' problems= nightmare XXC

EITHER WAY PETROL OR DIESEL
ALL YOU'LL NEED FOR A COOL RIDE IS =
LOWERED- Easy to do
Straight'ish panel work....
(if you go for "rat" look mat paint hides most stuff :D )
and some good old English tom-foolery

WELCOME
you've made a good start :thumbs_up :)

Thanks for that :thumbs_up

I think i`ll probably end up opting for the 1.6 diesel engine.

As you said - economy is brilliant, i`ll be doing quite a lot of travelling due to my motorbiking so will need something which isn`t going to cost a bomb to run.

I`m not too fussed about going fast,,, At the end of the day its a VW caddy not some tuned hot hatch, and if it will sit at 80mph without struggling then that will ding dang doo for me. They aint meant to go fast its a pick-up http://adrenalintrip.extreme.com/gfx/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif.

I wouldn't mind a petrol, with it being 'cooler' than diesel etc. but i dont like the idea of tinkering with carbs. It`s bad enough trying to set my 13mm keihin up on the minibike.

Not too sure what price i`m looking at but i would like to spend about 800.

Cheers guys.

Nick
